Design Vitality’s Theme Design Competition

DesignVitality is hosting a Wordpress theme design competition. The Grand Prize Winner will receive $1,000 in cold hard cash via Paypal. The First Runner Up will receive a brand new 4GB Apple iPhone or a Nintendo Wii, and the Second Runner Up will receive 2 years of Free Web Hosting with unlimited domains and 250GB of monthly transfer. Pretty nice prizes.

We submitted four themes. These themes, part of our 1Two Theme Series, all have some very special features that you won’t find in other themes. Here’s a summary:

The 1Two Theme Series is especially well-suited for sites that have a large number of single pages or nested pages as opposed to a lot of posts. However it also works well with sites that have lots of posts, so it’s great for both bloggers and businesses.

PAGE NAVIGATION features include:

• Custom sidebar page navigation bar for side panels with custom text characteristics so that readers more easily understand which page they’re.
• Nested page navigation system with collapsing page nav tree. Top level pages title appear by themselves until one is clicked, then titles for
  child pages appear under the clicked page’s title. This saves screen space and eases navigation.
• Active page titles in the navigation bar appear as bold capitalized text in a different font color
• Tags can be included when writing new pages and tags then appear at the bottom of pages. (Similar to the way Wordpress allows for the creation of tags for posts)

POST NAVIGATION features include:

• Next and Previous post navigation links
• Posts truncated with the Wordpress <!–more–> tag include a link to read the rest of the post
• Long posts that are paginated with the Wordpress <!–nextpage–> tag include page navigation at the top and bottom of the page
• A “Recent Comments” widget is included to display recent comments. A custom function is included for sites that don’t use widgets

SEARCH OPTIMIZATIONS:

• Includes a built-in Site Map template - see the options page for more information
• Includes a built-in link redirector that helps you track clicks to other sites you link to. The redirector works with all links in posts, pages, and your blogroll. It can also obsure links and add “nofollow” tags to links!
• Includes built-in search engine optimization (SEO) features, including insertion of custom title tags, meta keyword data, and inclusion of your post and page tags as a suffix to your page titles, as seen in the your browser’s title bar.

COMPATIBILITY:

• 1Two works on Wordpress and Wordpress MU !
• 1Two is widget enabled

FLEXIBILITY:

• Includes a built-in Archives template - see the options page for more information
• Includes a built-in Contact form. You can insert a contact form on any page or in any post! See the options page for more information.
• Includes a “No Sidebar” page template for pages that need a wide display. This is useful for sites that integrate features that require a wide screen area, such as a forum, or wide videos, etc.
• Includes widgets for Flickr.com, Linkedin.com, MyBlogLog.com, Pandora.com, and Social Bookmarking sites
• Includes a language translation widget that lets your readers translate your site from English into 10 other languages
• Includes a Recent Posts widget that lets you skip displaying the firsts X number of posts
• Includes a Navbar widget that builds a vertical menu from your page titles
• Includes widgets and functions for displaying Recent Comments in the sidebar
• Includes custom template functions that provide the same functionality as the included widgets, as listed above. Useful for sites that prefer not to use use widgets to build sidebars.
• Uses custom code to build folding Page navigation trees, and uses a customized method of displaying page navigation. Highly useful for sites with lots of Pages - especially nested page hierarchies
• You can add tags to pages! When editing pages, fill in the Tags field just like you would for a regualar post!
